Fritz watched Tessa walk nervously into the checkpoint before him. After a few tense moments at the front of the line to cross the border dividing the contested city, the loudspeakers called "NEXT!" It seemed Tessa had gotten through.
He walked into the small both and heard "Papers, please." Heart pounding, he slid his documents to the inspector. The bespectacled man spent several minutes looking them over, cross-checking his information until finally stamping his passport with a green "ENTRY APPROVED".
Thrilled, but trying to hide it, Fritz took back his papers and exited the room. Outside he saw Tessa standing a ways away across the large concrete gap watched by armed guards in blue uniforms. They both smiled, almost in tears, as he approached.
Suddenly an alarm blared. The guards raised their weapons. A man leapt over the high cement wall and dashed towards the firing line, a small item in his throwing arm. Tessa and Fritz looked at one another in terror. Gunfire broke in the stiff winter air. The couple dashed towards each other. Bullets ripped through the man's coat. The grenade sailed high in the air. Just as Tessa came near she cried out in pain.
A deafening explosion threw all the guards to the ground. Fritz caught her in his arms, warm blood soaking his hands. The inspector came from the booth, a rifle in hand. "Fritz" Tessa said weakly "w-we made it." Tears ran down their faces as they looked into one another's eyes. As hers faded, Fritz looked into the sky and yelled out in anguish.

Such is life in Glorious Arstotzka.
I've been playing a lot of Papers, Please, which I feel is one of the best mini-games I've ever played.

I apologize for the previous inspectors incompetence and the death of your friend. I will order a new garrison of tanks to be stationed at the border along with a battalions worth of infantry. This card has cost you NO MONEY.

GLORY TO ARSTOTZKA!
